Bio

Atticus Wolfe (he/him) is an assistant professor of public health at Agnes Scott College in Georgia, USA. Atticus graduated from Rhodes College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and in Urban & Community Health and obtained his Master's in Public Health Administration & Policy from the University of Minnesota in 2020. Atticus earned a graduate certificate in gender studies in 2022 and a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sociology from the University of South Carolina in 2024. He has taught introductory- and advanced-level undergraduate courses for four years. Currently, his research investigates the intersection of socio-cultural identity, institutional environments, and social status to inform health equity interventions and research.

Atticus is an issue-area expert in gender and sex identity, race and ethnicity, human sexuality, inclusive educational initiatives, and health policy. His work is both qualitative and quantitative and uses a combination of survey, interview, oral history, archival, and policy analysis methodologies to explore topics in workplace and educational diversity, healthcare quality, and interpersonal bias.

In addition to his research, Atticus is a leader in the Sexualities section of the American Sociological Association, Gender & Sex section of the American Sociological Association, and GLMA: Health Professionals for Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality. He enjoys mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and pre-professional health students through his affiliations with Sociologists for Trans Justice, World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the American Public Health Association.
