Using Data to Highlight the Needs of LGBTQ+ Medical Professionals

"LGBTQ+ health care professionals are facing [burnout] on multiple fronts. Many of them report not feeling supported by society, which is a distinct feeling from feeling in danger. You can feel safe, but not supported. But we’re seeing that folks are also reporting high levels of endangerment when going out into the rest of society. With their health care professional status, they are forced to interact with patients who they may not feel safe to engage with. And when we get policies, coworkers, and supervisors who are also not supportive, either openly or behind the scenes, then we see that burnout becomes even more common."
